Maple Brewz: Whitby’s Cosy Spot for Your Next Craving

For a relaxing date night, a fun board game evening, or just a place to unwind, Maple Brewz is quickly becoming a popular spot in Whitby. Located at 1525 Dundas St. E., this cosy café offers a variety of activities that make it more than just a coffee shop.

Previously known as Coffee Culture, Maple Brewz has undergone a major transformation since the owner made a change. In September, they rebranded and reopened with a focus on creating a more community-driven, independent atmosphere.

Jordyn Ray, the supervisor at Maple Brewz, shared how the shift from a franchise to an independent café has impacted the business. “It was called Coffee Culture before, and I worked here when it was part of that franchise,” Ray said. “There’s a big difference now. A lot of people didn’t like going to it because it was a franchise, but now, being more independent, we’re getting a lot more regulars. The food quality has definitely improved, too.”

Ray highlighted some of the café’s most popular items, including their breakfast menu served until 11 a.m. You can get a variety of sandwiches and wraps for lunch, as well as Belgian waffles, milkshakes and even ice cream.

For couples or friends looking for a more intimate setting, Maple Brewz offers a special date night package. From 6 p.m. onward daily, customers can enjoy two cappuccinos or lattes, paired with either a waffle or a slice of cake—perfect for sharing.

They also have live entertainment on Mondays featuring a musician from Austin, Texas, who performs by the fireplace. Ray explained, “He plays and talks about his life, sharing stories he’s written about his experiences through his music.”

It’s not just about coffee and food; it’s also a great place to connect with friends. They have board games that are available for free all night.

“I’ve been coming here for quite some time,” said Ava Moon, a regular customer. “I’m a student in the area, and I love enjoying a latte and their Belgian waffles, especially the Nutella waffle. I just found out they do live music on Mondays, so I’ve been making it a point to stop by on one of those nights.”

Looking to the future, Ray mentioned that the café is planning to host more events, including potentially bringing in new musicians and networking opportunities, something that was popular when it operated as Coffee Culture.

With its welcoming vibe and a great mix of food and activities, Maple Brewz has quickly become a must-visit spot for both Whitby locals and visitors.
