Durham College Students Association launches Frost Week to welcome students back

Durham College Students Association (DCSA) kicked off Frost Week on Tuesday, Jan. 7, offering a packed schedule of events to welcome students back for the winter semester.

Running from Jan. 7 to Jan. 31 on both campuses, the month-long festivities include activities like Craft Night, Snowy Centre Day and Make Your Own Vision Board. The events are designed to help students reconnect after the holiday break and offer opportunities to win prizes, such as gift cards and school merchandise.

“Frost Week is all about bringing students together,” said Abby Whitehouse, DCSA Events Coordinator. “We want to create a fun environment where everyone feels welcome, especially as the cold settles in.”

Second-year business administration student Alex Nguyen praised the initiative, saying, “It’s been so fun. I got to skate and drink some hot chocolate.”

Snowy Centre Day, held on the Oshawa campus, featured activities like a hockey shootout and basketball free throws inside the Student Centre Building.

Students have responded positively to Frost Week, with many commending the DCSA’s efforts. “It’s nice to have something fun to come back to after the break,” said second-year student Priya Patel.

The festivities conclude on Friday, Jan. 31, with a New Year’s-themed bar night.

For more information about events, visit the DCSA website or follow their social media channels.
