Scavenger hunt gone wrong on campus

Durham Regional Police say no charges will be laid in connection with a recent accident on campus.

According to police, a 20-year-old Ontario Tech student and his friends were playing a scavenger hunt game called “capture the brick” on campus Nov. 9.

Police say around 8:10 p.m. the student laid down in front of a 2020 Mini Cooper believing the car had a “brick,” to prevent it from leaving. His friend, who was no longer playing, got in the car not knowing the student was there and ran over him.

The student was taken to Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto and treated for a broken leg and shoulder.

Const. George Tudos from Durham Regional Police said there were “numerous members involved,” but confirmed to the Chronicle that no charges have been laid.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Const. Hutcheson of Central West Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 3810.
