Some of the top minds in the world of sports business in Canada are coming to Durham College next week.
They are speaking at the 10th annual Durham College Sport Business Conference on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
Some of the big names include Bob Hunter, chairman and CEO of the Toronto Wolfpack, Toronto’s pro rugby team.
There is a school sport panel with athletic directors from multiple universities who will speak, including those from Trent, Ontario Tech and Queen’s. In addition, Graham Brown, USports president and CEO will be there with Gord Grace, Ontario University Athletics CEO.
Other guests include a Durham alumni panel and representatives from Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment and DAZN, the sports streaming service.
Logan Caswell is one of the 19 students in the sports management program in charge of putting the event together.
Student roles are determined at the start of the semester. Once roles are decided students get to work to plan out the event.
Caswell looks after the marketing of the event and explains how the conference can benefit students in attendance.
“It’s a fabulous networking opportunity,” said Caswell, “a really good opportunity for young business sports individuals or just anyone trying to gain some knowledge into the sports business side.”
For students attending the event, it starts at 9:30 a.m. and goes till 3:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20 if you purchase it in person and not online.
If purchased online through Eventbrite, tickets are $25, the VIP package is $30. (Eventbrite has a service fee which is why there is a slight increase in pricing.)
The VIP package not only comes with a ticket to the event but a hot lunch with all the guest speakers.
