The hit TV show Dragons’ Den is coming to Durham College (DC) looking for the next great business idea.

Currently in its 14th season, the CBC program is on a nationwide tour seeking entrepreneurs to pitch business ideas with the opportunity to receive investment from a Dragon.

Dragons’ Den has made it an annual habit to come to the college seeking talent.

“Dragons’ Den has been hosting events at DC since 2012, our seventh season,” says Yette Vandendam, senior producer for Dragons’ Den.

Since then, seven people have have made pitches at the DC stop and have made it to air, but none have been students of DC.

The event will take place on Wednesday, March 20 from 11 a.m to 6 p.m. in the Student Services Building, room 116 AB.

Entrepreneurs who attend DC or members of the general public can pitch their business ideas – in five minutes or less – to a panel of producers on campus.

If the producers see potential in the individual’s pitch, they will be invited to Toronto to share their idea in front of the Dragons.

Prospective entrepreneurs who may need more fire in their pitch can go through FastStart on DC’s Oshawa campus for assistance.

Individuals who are interested in attending the Dragons’ Den event are asked to apply online at http://castingapp.tv/dragonsden/ and to bring a completed application with them the day of the event.
