The Saturday chaos continues in north Oshawa.
A woman being held hostage at Founders Hospital by an individual who claimed “I just wanna kill, all day,” has now been released. However, shortly after gaining her freedom, she collapsed on the scene and is being treated at hospital.
Police have now confronted the hostage-taker.
Almost at the same time as the hostage situation, a wall collapsed at the theatre at the Founders Mall adjacent to the hospital. Paramedics are treating multiple victims.
Meantime, investigators are also on the scene trying to determine what caused an explosion this morning that killed two people and injured several others at Founders Mall.
Paramedics, fire officials and Durham Regional Police are on the scene. Reports suggest there was a gas leak in the mall.
One person has been taken into custody by Durham Regional Police, witnesses say it could be on theft-related charges.
