Knead a massage? Tuesdays are your day to relax at Durham College.

A massage therapy clinic has opened at the new Durham College Spa on the second floor of the Centre for Collaborative Education (CFCE).

Students, faculty and the general public are invited to use the massage services now offered at the spa by second-year Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) students.

The sessions include an orthopaedic assessment, therapeutic massage and home care suggestions.

Amy Roosenboom is the program coordinator for the RMT program. She says techniques learned in class are practised in the spa teaching space.

Roosenboom says users can expect an individualized massage based on a full assessment beforehand, but there are not different styles of massages.

Two 75-minute sessions are offered for $60, or one session at $35. The clinic takes place Tuesdays from 3 p.m.-7 p.m.

Services will expand in 2019 to include cosmetic techniques and esthetic services based on new programs at DC.

Spa services are meant to be more affordable for clients and support a learning environment for student, says Roosenboom.

Appointments for massages are available to book online at https://durhamcollegespa.ca/services/massage-therapy, or in person at the spa.
