A 31-year-old Oshawa man is being held, pending a court appearance, in relation to the death of an Oshawa woman.
Wesley Guzylak, who was found at the scene of the stabbing death of Cotie Weekley with self-inflicted knife wounds, has been charged with first-degree murder.
A Durham Regional Police (DRPS) media release confirms Guzlyak was released from hospital Feb. 3 and made his first appearance in court the following day.
In the media release, DRPS also confirm he and Weekley had been in a relationship.
Police arrived at Weekley’s home on Simcoe St. N., near the Oshawa-Scugog border around noon Jan. 23.
According to reports, Weekley’s eight-year-old daughter came upon the scene and ran to a neighbour’s house for help.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds to support Weekley’s daughter. In 11 days, more than $12,000 has been raised.
