A UOIT student accused of stabbing another UOIT student last month on campus had a court date Oct. 29.
While 19-year-old Hamza Tariq of Hemans Court in Ajax was not present in provincial court in Oshawa, his lawyer represented him.
The judge, at Tariq’s lawyer’s request, approved for the next court appearance to be Nov. 19.
Tariq is accused of stabbing a 22-year-old UOIT student Sept. 17, 2014 near the B-wing Tim Hortons.
He was arrested the next day and released on $10,000 bail.
Under the terms of his bail conditions, Tariq is living under house arrest at his parent’s home and banned from UOIT.
Tariq is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession with a dangerous weapon to public peace.
On Sept. 17., Durham Regional Police responded to a possible stabbing on campus near the B-wing Tim Hortons and discovered an individual with a stab wound to the stomach.
