The Harry Potter franchise lives on in new series

Harry Potter fans better sit down for this. Take a deep breath. Ready? There is a new Harry Potter related movie being made.

Remember the textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them from the series? Not the book that tried to bite you if you opened it incorrectly, but the other one. Warner Brothers Studios has announced a partnership with famous author J.K. Rowling to extend the Harry Potter universe a little bit farther, with the production of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Based on the life of fictional author Newt Scamander, the movie will be set 70 years in the past, in New York, long before the time of Harry Potter himself. That’s why it’s related. Harry Potter himself won’t make any appearances, but other creatures and characters might.
“[The movie] is neither a prequel nor a sequel of the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” stated J.K. Rowling in a press release from Warner Brothers Studios.
Rowling will be writing the screenplay herself, saying it wouldn’t feel right if someone else wrote it.
Most are familiar with the Harry Potter series, whether just the books, just the movies of both. For the hardcore fans out there, this news couldn’t have come at a better time. There has been such a long wait for something like this, and the Potter fans are nearly losing their heads.
The Harry Potter movies have been popular from the beginning, with a total of over $7 billion at the box office for all eight movies combined.
No word yet on who will be playing the lead in this spin off, as it is still too early in the planning stages to even start thinking about possible actors.
