The 39th annual Oshawa-Whitby Kiwanis Music Festival which began yesterday and continues until April 23rd.
The festival is a competition for amateur vocalists and instrument musicians.
The Oshawa-Whitby Kiwanis Music Festival is a non-profit organization offering certificates, trophies and awards to its competitors.
Scholarships will be given to the winners in hopes of helping them excel and reach their goals in the arts.
Festival coordinator Tina-Marie Schaef said many volunteers are on hand for the event taking place at 10 different churches in the area.
“The festival is important as individuals and groups receive
a professional adjudication and have the opportunity to compete and hear others as well,” said Shaef.
Program guides are available at local music stores and at the venues.
There is an admission charge to the events.
